40 minute “A LIFE IN THE DEATH OF JOE MEEK” preview to screen at Ugly Things magazine’s 30th Anniversary Bash!!!
Ugly Things is one of the most comprehensive and indispensable annual guides to rock and roll music. Self proclaimed: “the ultimate rock & roll read, bringing you wild sounds from past dimensions, from times when rock & roll was young, daring, dangerous and vital. Passionate, informed, insightful, in-depth coverage of the overlooked music of the 1950s, ’60s, ’70s & beyond.” If anything, an understatement.
We will be there to meet fellow Joe Meek fans and will be available for Q&A after the screening – and, in answer to some emails we’ve received, we WILL be fundraising for the completion of the doc and have official A LIFE IN THE DEATH OF JOE MEEK posters (including our fuzzy psychedelic black light version) and t-shirts for sale!
Check back here at www.joemeekdoc.com closer to the event for more specifics as to the day and times of the screening. We screen Saturday AND Sunday between 12pm – 4pm. There are plenty of amazing bands playing all weekend and a few other great music docs — peruse the entire schedule and find info on lodging and eats at: www.ugly-things.com .
So stop by, check out our preview and share a pint or two with us at: Jayne’s Gastropub, host for all official UT anniversary daytime events. Wicked cocktails, great beer and wine selection, high quality pub grub — http://jaynesgastropub.com/ 4677 30th St San Diego, CA 92116 (619) 563-1011
In the meantime, here’s Mike Stax, creator and editor of Ugly Things (and “cast member” of our documentary, A LIFE IN THE DEATH OF JOE MEEK), showing us a mere fraction of his impressive collection of Joe Meek singles (many of which can be sampled on our Media Player)!
