And away we go!

Since this website’s launch on February 3rd,

we have received many emails from all over the world asking about Joe and our project. On our Facebook page, in just one week, we’ve grown by over 300 new friends! It seems that the interest in Joe is expanding by the second and we are excited to meet all of you and want to thank you for the support and insights you provide.

Everyone has their own entryway to the world of Joe Meek and their own emotional reasoning and connectivity to his story and personal perceptions of his work. Mike Stax, the editor of UGLY THINGS magazine, has graced us with a memoir of his “life with Joe”. We find it extremely touching and are honored to present it to you today.

Cover-34-small-233x300This is the first of what we hope will be many contributions from Mike – in our estimation one of the most important voices on post-WWII rock/pop music history and form. And if you haven’t read an issue of UGLY THINGS yet – it’s celebrating its 30th Anniversary this year! – then, what’re you waiting for? If you are a 20th Century rock and pop music fanatic, this magazine will be your stairway to Heaven.

Please post your thoughts and, perhaps, share how you found Joe Meek and what his music means to you in the comments section.

If there are any budding (or established) Meek-o-philes reading this who would like to contribute information or editorial to this site, feel free to contact us and let us know what you’d like to explore.

Enjoy the conversation
